「折るって、祈る？」
広島には、世界中から無数の折り鶴が集まります。一人ひとりの小さな祈りは、街の風景の一部となっています。けれど、「折る」という行為の中にも、祈りは宿るのかもしれません。
私たちは日々の暮らしの中で、無意識に「折る」「たたむ」を繰り返しています。洗濯物をたたむ。レシートを折る。本のページを折る。そうした何気ない所作には、誰かや何かを想う気持ちが宿っているのかもしれません。
本展では、「折る」と「祈る」が重なって見えた日常の風景や仕草を、イラストレーションで表現しています。
また、原爆後遺症と向き合いながら折り鶴を折り続けた佐々木禎子さんによる実物の折り鶴を特別展示いたします。
祈りとは、どこから生まれるのか。
それは特別な行為ではなく、私たちの暮らしの中にも存在しているのではないか。
折るという行為を広く見つめながら、生活に潜む祈りのかたちを見つめ直します。

作家プロフィール：小平篤乃生（コヒラアツノブ）
広島生まれ。現代アーティスト。フランスを拠点に国内外で活躍。「あらゆるメディアや歴史は緩やかに絶え間なく繋がっている」という考えのもと、考古学とは別の視点や解釈からの歴史を提示し、国家が成立する前の人間の営みや自然との共存を探し求め、五感を喚起させる体感的な場と作品をつくり続けている。

Exhibition Concept
“Does Folding Mean Praying?”
Countless paper cranes are sent to Hiroshima from around the world. Each carries a small, personal prayer, and together they have become part of the city’s landscape.
But perhaps the simple act of folding itself can also hold a prayer.
In our everyday lives, we fold things almost without thinking. We fold laundry. We fold receipts. We fold the corner of a book page. Perhaps these ordinary gestures carry thoughts and feelings for someone—or something—even when we are not aware of them.
This exhibition presents illustrations of everyday scenes and gestures in which folding and praying seem to overlap.
The exhibition also features a special display of an original paper crane folded by Sadako Sasaki, who continued folding cranes while living with the aftereffects of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
Artist Profile: Atsunobu Kohira
Born in Hiroshima, Atsunobu Kohira is a contemporary artist based in France and active internationally.
Guided by the idea that all forms of media and history are gently and continuously interconnected, his work explores history through perspectives and interpretations beyond conventional archaeology. He examines human life before the formation of nation-states and our coexistence with nature, creating immersive spaces and artworks that engage and awaken the senses.
